The short version: the calculators run entirely inside your browser, so the numbers you type never leave your device. We do not require accounts, we do not sell data, and the only thing stored on your machine is whether you prefer light or dark mode.
The Principle Behind This Policy
A weight converter has no legitimate reason to know anything about you. It receives a number, multiplies it by a constant, and shows you the answer. Building that as a server-side service would mean transmitting your data for no benefit, so we did not. Every calculation on this site happens in JavaScript running on your own device.
That single architectural decision resolves most privacy questions before they arise. There is no database of conversions, no log of entered values, and no way for us to reconstruct what anybody typed — because the information never reached us in the first place.
What We Do Not Collect
- The values you enter. Weights typed into any calculator on this site are processed locally and discarded when you close or reload the page.
- Account information. There are no accounts, so there are no names, email addresses, passwords or profiles.
- Payment details. Nothing on the site is for sale, so no payment information is ever requested or handled.
- Contact details. Unless you choose to email us, in which case we hold your message so we can reply to it.
What Is Stored on Your Device
One item: your theme preference. When you use the light and dark toggle, that choice is saved in your browser's local storage so the site looks the same next time you visit. It is a single short value, it stays on your device, and it is never transmitted anywhere.
To remove it, clear site data for this domain in your browser's privacy settings. The site will simply fall back to matching your operating system's appearance setting.
Server logs
Like effectively every website, the hosting infrastructure records standard request information such as IP address, timestamp, requested page and browser type. Why the Architecture Is the Policy
Most privacy policies describe restraint: a promise that a company will collect data responsibly and not misuse it. This one describes an absence. The values you type into a converter on this site are not handled carefully — they are not handled at all, because they never leave the machine you are sitting at.
That distinction matters, because a promise depends on future good behaviour and an architecture does not. If we changed our minds tomorrow about wanting your data, we would still not have any historical record of what anyone converted, because none was ever created. Design is a stronger guarantee than intention.
How to verify it yourself
You do not have to take our word for it. Open the developer tools in any modern browser, switch to the network tab, and run a conversion. Nothing is requested and nothing is sent. The page you already downloaded does the multiplication and updates the display. That is the whole mechanism, and it is inspectable by anyone curious enough to look.
A Note on Analytics
Understanding which pages people find useful is how a reference site improves. Knowing that one page gets read constantly and another almost never tells us where to spend effort. What that does not require is following individuals around, building profiles, or sharing anything with an advertising ecosystem.
So any measurement here is aggregate and page-level. It answers the question of which pages are useful. It does not answer the question of who you are, and it is not configured to try.

What a Converter Would Have to Collect — and Why We Do Not
It is worth spelling out what the alternative looks like, because it is the industry norm rather than a hypothetical.
A conventional online calculator sends your input to a server, computes the answer there, and sends it back. That server can log the value, the time, your IP address and your browsing session. Layered on top there is typically an advertising stack that knows what you were converting and can use it: someone converting baby weights is a valuable advertising signal, and so is someone converting freight tonnage.
None of that is necessary to multiply a number by 2.20462. It exists because data has commercial value, not because the tool requires it. We took the other route, and the practical consequence is that this policy is unusually short: there is very little to describe.
The trade-off we accepted
Local calculation means we genuinely cannot see which conversions are most common, which would be useful for deciding what to build next. We have chosen to work that out from which pages people read instead, which is coarser information and enough.
Data Retention in Practice
Retention policies are simple when there is almost nothing to retain.
- Conversion inputs: never created. They exist only in your browser's memory and disappear when you close or reload the page.
- Theme preference: stored on your device until you clear site data. We never see it.
- Server logs: standard request records kept for a limited operational period for security and reliability, then discarded.
- Email correspondence: kept while a conversation is active and afterwards only as long as useful. Ask for deletion and it is deleted.

Is a short privacy policy a red flag?
Usually it would be, and the scepticism is healthy. Length normally signals that a lot is happening. Here the brevity reflects an architectural choice you can verify yourself in about thirty seconds with your browser's network tab, which is a stronger form of assurance than any number of paragraphs.
Why mention verification so often?
Because a privacy claim that cannot be checked is just a claim. Client-side calculation is unusual in being independently observable by anyone who wants to look, and we would rather point at that than ask for trust.
What if the site changes hands?
If ownership or operation ever changed, this policy would be updated to reflect the new arrangements before they took effect, rather than quietly afterwards. Why This Matters More on Some Pages Than Others
Most conversions are unremarkable. Some are not, and it is worth acknowledging which.
Somebody converting a birth weight has just had a baby. Somebody converting a patient weight may be working in a hospital. Somebody converting a body weight might be managing a health condition, and somebody converting freight tonnage may be handling commercially sensitive figures. In a conventional setup, all of that would be a data point attached to an IP address.
Because the calculation is local, none of it is. The site cannot distinguish between a reader converting a suitcase weight and one converting something they would rather nobody knew about, because it never sees either number. That is the practical benefit of the architecture, and it is the main reason we chose it.
Cookies, Storage and the Consent Question
Visitors are used to being met by a consent banner before they can read anything. There is not one here, and the reason is worth explaining rather than leaving as a pleasant surprise.
Consent requirements attach to storing or accessing information on your device for purposes that are not strictly necessary, and to processing personal data on certain legal bases. This site stores one item: whether you chose light or dark mode, saved only if you actively use the toggle. That is a preference you asked for, on your own device, never transmitted. It does not identify you and it is not used for anything else.
